I began my bagpiping career as a Fire Department piper. I did this because I felt it was important to honor my firefighting brothers and sisters both in life and death. The sound of the Great Highland Bagpipes, when played correctly, evokes emotions and feelings that most often cannot be expressed by words alone. I take great pride in being a firefighter with the Lewisville Fire Department. I also feel a great honor in filling the role of Pipe Major for the Lewisville Fire Department Pipes and Drums, www.lfdpipesanddrums.com. During the last several years, I have performed at numerous parades, funerals, memorials, retirements and department ceremonies for LFD as well as many surrounding departments, and citizens, as a member of the LFD Pipes and Drums, and as a solo piper.
Having been trained in music from an early age, I began taking pipe lessons as a member of the Lewisville Fire Department Pipes & Drums, where I received expert instruction from piper Don Shannon of the North Texas Caledonian Pipes & Drums.
Since then I have continued to study bagpipe music and practice daily. In addition to my experience with bagpipes, I am a formally trained musician, with over 20 years of study and performance, -- including guitar, and general music theory.
